I remember back in my freshman year when I was taking my U.S. history class. We learned about WW2, and during that I had thought, “what if the Axis had won?”
This game is a beautiful example of an alternate reality where they did. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, is a story based fps where the Nazis’ had won World War 2 and your job as the main character is to spark a second American Revolution to free yourselves from the Nazi regime.
Wolfenstein was released on October 27th for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Even better, the games is scheduled for release on Nintento Switch in 2018.
This game picks up with the main character William Blazkowicz, right where the previous game left off, and if you didn’t play the previous game worry not, there is a beginning cut scene that shows you a summary of what had happened before the events of The New Colossus.
Wolfenstein is similar to a run and gun style game featuring all sorts of interesting weapons and gadgets. The weapons range from pistols to laser guns to grenade launchers supplying a whole new way to blast through hundreds of enemies.
But be careful, because the Nazis’ also have this power of advanced weaponry in their grasps. They display this with their massive air ship and some of their soldiers equipped with top of the line mech suits.
Another unique factor about this game is how there is a play style for everybody. While still having a linear story, Machine Games managed to incorporate different ways to get around an obstacle or to take out enemies.
Whether it is smashing through the floor or the classic run and gun there truly is something for everyone. I suggest anybody who likes story based shooters buy this game.
