The wait is almost over; Coming in September of 2018 – Nintendo Switch Online Services is coming to the life saver in your pocket, that’s right your cell phone! Nintendo Switch online is available in the App Store and Google Play Store, all you have to do is download the app and take the Nintendo Switch with you everywhere you go – literally. No need to carry around the Nintendo Switch anymore because all you’d ever need is in your pant pocket, along with one of the multiple games that are going to be available on the app – Splatoon 2.

The exciting news hit the surface on March 14th, 2018 after the announcement of the Cloud Saves for the new Nintendo Switch Online Services. Which means no one will ever have to worry about putting multiple hours into a game just for it not to save. The Cloud save function will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, but the catch is you can’t get the Cloud saves unless you have the online subscriptions service, but it’s better than what Switch players have now which is nothing.

The subscriptions for Nintendo Switch Online Services come in four different packages:

  • 1-Month Membership – $3.99
  • 3-Month Membership – $7.99
  • 12-Month Membership – $19.99
  • If you’re going for a Family Membership, you’ll be able to subscribe for one year for $40 with up to eight different Nintendo Accounts.

Access to any of the subscriptions give you access to much more than someone who doesn’t, for example you’d get: Online gameplay – allows you to play and chat with other players as soon as the official service launches, Access to the Nintendo Switch Online app – Nintendo has a special app that is exclusive to Switch and offers special content for specific games like Splatoon 2 – this is the only game supported by the app at this moment, and much more.

How do you sign up you may ask? First and foremost you’ll need an Nintendo Account, more importantly an Nintendo Switch account, sadly Wii U and 3DS accounts do not work. Just in case you need to make an account; you’ll need to set one up on the Switch itself, but if you already have an account you will automatically have a free trial until the actual service is to launch in September of 2018, which will give you complete access to the Nintendo Switch Online Services and all of the online gameplay that is available. As soon as the official service goes live you’ll be asked if you would like to continue with the Online Service or if you’d like to cancel the service.
