A Round Up of Microsoft’s E3 Showcase!

Article By: XGN Jessi 7

Hey everyone! I’m sure we are all still reeling from the past couple days of E3 and all the awesome showcases we have seen, especially from the “big guns”; Microsoft, Sony, Bethesda, Ubisoft, and Nintendo. XGN News Team will be bringing you some spotlight articles of some of the big releases that have been announced by these guys at E3, but we are also bringing you some “round up” articles to give you the LSS if you don’t feel like watching their showcases for hours.

So to start us off here’s a round up of what we saw from Microsoft’s showcase at E3!

We start off with some “housekeeping” I guess you could say, where Phil Spencer announced the acquisition of 4 studios, some of which had already been working with Microsoft as their Publisher. Microsoft welcomes aboard;
– Undead Labs known for the State of Decay series
– Playground Games the big gun behind the Forza series
– Ninja Theory known for their title Hellblade
– Compulsion Games who will be releasing their new title We Happy Few this year

What was also announced, is the opening of the newest studio under Microsoft, The Initiative. Lead by the former studio head of Crystal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher, the studio is based in Santa Monica and already working on a new game. During the E3 showcase of course they won’t tell us what it is.

Something we have all been waiting to hear, a new console. Phil Spencer announced during the showcase that the “hardware team is deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles.” Consoles, like plural? It remains to be seen, and we haven’t been given a timeline yet, but unconfirmed rumors have surfaced that we could see it in 2020 and it has a code name “Scarlet”.

Let’s talk games! From the showcase itself, we see some great games in the works. For our heavy hitters (these are games that the XGN News Team will have separate articles on) we see;
– Gears of War 5
– Halo Infinite
– The Division 2
– Dying Light 2
– Forza Horizon 4
– Kingdom Hearts 3

Our honorable mentions;
– Crackdown 3
– Metro: Exodus
– Just Cause 4
– Devil May Cry 5

New games we will see;

– Ori and the Will of the Wisps
– Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
– The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
– Shadow of the Tomb Raider
– Session
– Jump Force
– Battletoads
– Cyberpunk 2077

We will be seeing a nice pack of expansions coming for some great games as well. The acclaimed Sea of Thieves will see Cursed Sails in July, and Forsaken Shores in September. Cuphead will also see an expansion in 2019 called “The Delicious Last Course”.

For those who have a Xbox Game Pass subscription, it was announced that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be added later this year. The Division, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, and Fallout 4 were added to game pass on showcase day too!

During the showcase Ashley Speicher, head of engineering at Xbox Game Pass, announced the launch of FastStart. FastStart will allow players to begin playing their games twice as fast than the current technology. It will be available for select titles in an update releasing later this month.

We will see some games add to Game Pass on the exact day of their launch, so keep an eye out! Forza Horizon 3 and Crackdown 3 will be seen on launch day.
