So, we all know XGN is cool and stuff, yea? But you know what would be cooler? If our community existed on more games. After all, it’s 2018 and players like variety more than ever.. Code word for “we get bored way too easily”. Since the formation of Xiled Gaming Network over 8 years ago (wow long time) a ton has changed. Alot for.. the better. Such as HYBRID SQUADS! If you told me way back when that one day all the squads in XGN would be all mixed up and unsorted.. I would have probably.. had a OCD panic attack.. haha but it works well. (somehow)
In the beginning Mr XGN said let there be Halo, and THERE WAS HALO! That worked for some time before XGN slowly begin to transfer to a Call of Duty based community. We always existed on games like Call of Duty 4 and Black Ops but it wasn’t until Black Ops 2 dropped that XGN saw a MASSIVE spike in membership and most importantly, Call of Duty membership. Fast forward to 2018 and now XGN being mostly Rainbow Six Siege it’s safe to say I’ve witnessed some transitions.. Although we’ve had so much success we’ve never seemed able to simultaneously be large in more than a couple games at a time. Perhaps you, the next generation can change that and again diversify our community.
Top 5 Games XGN Divisions Should Focus Efforts On..

Blizzard’s hugely successful and immensely fun online FPS has gathered a serious following since its release. With numerous characters to pick from that have been tuned to suit everyone’s style of play, no pay to win loot boxes and a fair matchmaking system seem to be a recipe for success when it comes to online gaming. Once you have mastered how the game works and taken the time to develop the skill required to really take it to the other players, I find it hard to find an online game that is as satisfying and rewarding as Overwatch. Overwatch has recently broken into eSports, which makes it a great time to grab yourself a copy of this game and see what all the hype is about.
2.) ROCKET LEAGUE

If you haven’t played Rocket League yet then I suggest you hurry out and get a copy. The premise sounds utterly bonkers; rocket powered cars playing soccer, but once you start playing it, you soon realise that it is an insane amount of fun. Rocket League is extremely fast paced and requires a certain amount of skill and a bucket load of luck. Although it does have local co-op, when you take Rocket League online, you can really put your skills to the test against some truly outstanding players. It also serves as a great source of entertainment as its faced paced action means you truly have no idea what’s going to happen next. It is also worth noting that Rocket League was one of the games that paved the way for competitive gaming, a testament to just how fantastic this game is.
3.) BATTLEFIELD 1
Developer: EA DICE

Battlefield 1 came around at a time when the FPS genre needed a revival. Providing us with brutal combat, a superb, although short campaign and engaging characters, it did a lot of good for the FPS and war genre in one swoop. Battlefield 1’s online mode is utterly chaotic with sometimes up to forty players on the map in one go, all of them trying to take control of the command points scattered around the map. Sure, the matchmaking is a little sticky and some of the other gamers playing this game are really good, but it still doesn’t take away just how awesome the online mode truly is. I have fond memories of playing this with my brother and getting our asses handed to us every round, but I still had fun and, for an online game, I think that is all that matters.
4.) GEARS OF WAR 4
Developer: The Coalition

Gears of War 4 has gone under the radar a little bit as Microsoft has fumbled around trying to work out how to sell games this generation, and that’s a damn shame. Despite the shift in developer, it’s a worthy continuation of the shooter series and far more memorable than prequel Gears of War: Judgment, which was produced with Epic still overseeing the ship. What makes Gears of War 4 so good is The Coalition’s masterful identification of what made the original games so sticky, and its willingness to double down on that and throw everything else out in favour of fresh material. The result feels familiar in a good way, like a well-fitting pair of shoes, but is new and interesting enough that you won’t be bored. Cross-buy, cross-save and even cross-play with Windows 10 is a nice bonus, and a valuable lesson for all the other developers out there whinging that balancing multiplayer for keyboard and mouse as well as control pad is too hard.
5.) HALO 5 (THE ROOTS)
Developer: 343 Industries

Master Chief still isn’t quite back up to form, but Halo 5: Guardians tries so hard it’s easy to forgive its weaknesses. The campaign and accompanying story aren’t the events Microsoft wanted them to be. Fortunately, the online multiplayer is where the meat of the game is at. Arena Mode is the classic Halo of old, but Warzone is where 343 Industries has successfully shaken up the formula. Influenced by MOBAs, you fight AI and other players, both adding points to your team total. It’s here that you get to play multiplayer first-person shooters differently, and the result is fresh and exciting, backed by the familiarity of the giant Spartans and friends. Lets take XGN back to the roots!
Xiled Gaming Network has dominated the gaming community genre for the better part of the last decade. Through up’s and downs we always come out on top. I feel it’s important that Squad Leadership and Division Leadership aren’t afraid to take chances, and take risks. I understand that it’s often easier to continue recruiting for the games that are currently popular in XGN, because that is what you’re playing. But keep in mind that all the games that XGN currently supports had to be started. It takes time getting a NEW game off the ground for your division or squad however the rewards are unlimited. Think outside the box, be unique. Create massive legions of members on games no one else through of recruiting for. Although some of the games listed above aren’t as popular in 2018 best believe their player-base is loyal and has tens of thousands of active players daily. Opportunity awaits. Will you set XGN’s NEXT BIG TREND? Let your Divisional Leadership know, YOU WANT EXPANSION, YOU WANT GROWTH.

NOTE: Some squads / members do recruit for the games above, but not nearly supported enough community wide.
