When Crash Bandicoot was announced to come out with a remastered version, you were probably just as surprised as I was. Activision still has the rights but with the help from Sony they were able to come up with a remastered version of the game. No release date was announced on the stage of E3, but some time after that the date of release was set for June 20, 2016. The game was originally planned to be released in the year of 2016, but due to some strikes going on during the production, the release date had to be pushed back to 2017. The strike has been against 11 major video game developers, such as Electronic Arts Productions, Insomniac Games, Activision, Disney, and many more. They chose to go on a strike due to the lack of on-set safety procedures along to provide more secondary compensation. The new release date is now set for February 28, 2017.
As I mentioned earlier, Crash Bandicoot is a PlayStation exclusive. The game is based around a Bandicoot with human characteristics. A Doctor by the name of Neo Cortex created “Crash” and now wants him dead. Crash’s main goal is to foil Doctor Neo Cortex’s plans of world domination. The goal of each level is to guide Crash from beginning to end. During 1996-2001 the game developers, Jason Rubin, Andy Gavin wanted to create a 3D action platform so the player would have to look behind them constantly, they code-named the game “Sonic’s Ass Game.” At E3 this year it was announced that you could be able to play as Crash in the game, Skylanders: Imaginators. At Gamescom 2016 it was announced that you could also play as Doctor Neo Cortex in the game Skylanders:Imaginators.
There are many collectibles in the game, the most common collectible is the Wumpa Fruit. The Wumpa Fruit is typically found on the main paths in the levels and sometimes in crates. Wumpa Fruits is used to replenish Crash’s health. Crash can collect Aku-Aku masks to gain perfection for a short amount of time. Gems and crystals can also be collected, gems can be collected by breaking crates. Colored gems can be obtained by completing special tasks. Gems play a key role in the plot in most Crash Bandicoot games. Gems are required to make progress in the game and the crates can be found in abundance across the world. TNT and Nitro crates are the only boxes that can damage Crash. Boxes that are marked with a “C” signifies a checkpoint. Steel crates are protected and to break them, Crash will have to perform a body slam move. Slot crates shuffle through all the different types of crates.
